Whilst writing the script, we had to take many things into account. We wouldn't be able to shoot anywhere with a lot of people and we wouldn't be able to use extravagant locations.
We chose to have the use of voice over for the conversation in the diner because that would make it easier in securing a location to film. If we have a conversation in the diner, then we have to get permission and there would undoubtedly be unforeseen problems. But by doing it as a voice over, we can still get the shot diner shot and the setting, but the majority of what takes place their will be in voice over form.
We decided to use the underpass for the introduction to Samson, because the gritty urban setting would reflect the tone off the characters and the film.
The dialogue is a big part of the film opening, we had to make sure that was is being said, is short but to the point, we used the dialogue to describe Samson, as we felt this added a uniqueness to our film opening.
The scene where Samson has his first bit of dialogue is the peak of our creativeness, as the whole scene will be in first person. The point of view shot of DALE, the person who has stolen a diamond from the employer of Samson.
This scene will hopefully reflect the brutish and violent nature of Samson and hopefully set the film up nicely.
